Struggling with a blocked nose, sinus pain, or constant congestion? Our consultant surgeons specialise in advanced diagnostic and personalised treatment options for nose and sinus conditions, helping you breathe easier and feel confident.

What is Rhinology?

Rhinology is the specialised branch of ENT that focuses on the nose and sinuses. It encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as chronic sinusitis, rhinitis, nasal valve collapse, and nasal obstructions. These can affect both your day-to-day wellbeing and your confidence.

At Hillser Clinic, our goal is to restore clear breathing and comfort using an evidence-based, personalised approach. Our treatments include endoscopic procedures for chronic sinusitis (such as balloon sinuplasty), Latera implants for nasal valve collapse, ClariFix therapy for chronic rhinitis, and both functional and cosmetic rhinoplasties.

Common symptoms we treat

- Constant or recurring blocked nose

- Sinus pain, pressure, or headaches

- Recurrent sinus infections

- Post-nasal drip or chronic runny nose

- Loss of sense of smell or taste

- Persistent nasal congestion despite sprays or medication

- Breathing difficulties through the nose

- Snoring linked to nasal blockage

Investigations and diagnostics

We start by carefully assessing the cause of your nasal symptoms. Investigations may include:

  • FNE allows us to examine the inside of your nose, sinuses, and throat in detail. Using a thin, flexible camera, we can assess areas that are not visible with standard examination tools. The procedure takes only a few minutes and you can return to normal activities immediately after the assessment.

  • Allergy testing helps identify some of the underlying causes of persistent nasal or throat symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, or throat irritation. By identifying your triggers we can create a personalised treatment plan to help you achieve long-term relief and better control of your symptoms.

  • We work with partners to provide CT and MRI imaging of your head and neck to help us identify any abnormalities that may be causing your symptoms.

Treatment options

Following your assessment, your consultant will recommend a personalised plan:

Surgical options

  • Septoplasty and turbinate surgery are procedures designed to improve airflow through the nose. A deviated septum or enlarged turbinates can cause persistent nasal blockage, congestion, or snoring. By carefully straightening the nasal septum and reducing the size of the turbinates, we help restore clear breathing and reduce the symptoms that often disrupt sleep and daily comfort.

  • Septorhinoplasty is a combined functional and aesthetic procedure that corrects both the internal structure and external shape of the nose. By straightening the septum and refining the nasal framework, it improves breathing while enhancing facial balance and symmetry. The procedure is carefully tailored to each patient, restoring airflow and a natural appearance with lasting results.

  • FESS is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove blockages within the sinuses and restore natural drainage. Using a small endoscope, your surgeon gently clears inflamed or obstructed tissue through the nostrils — with no external incisions. This improves airflow, reduces pressure, and relieves the chronic congestion and sinus infections that affect daily comfort.

  • The Latera implant is a minimally invasive treatment designed to support weak or collapsing nasal walls — a common cause of nasal obstruction and congestion. The small, absorbable implant reinforces the sidewall of the nose from within, improving airflow and breathing stability without altering your external appearance.

  • Balloon sinuplasty is a gentle, minimally invasive technique that widens blocked sinus passages using a small balloon catheter. By restoring normal sinus drainage, it helps relieve facial pressure, congestion, and recurring sinus infections. The procedure is quick, performed through the nostrils, and allows most patients to return to normal activities within a day or two.

  • Coblation therapy uses advanced radiofrequency energy to precisely remove or shrink excess tissue in the nose or throat while protecting surrounding structures. This technique reduces nasal obstruction and snoring with minimal discomfort and downtime, offering an effective option for patients who prefer a non-invasive or tissue-sparing approach.

  • Nasal valve surgery corrects collapse or narrowing of the nasal valve — one of the most important areas regulating airflow through the nose. Using delicate reconstructive techniques, our surgeons strengthen and reshape this region to restore stable, natural breathing while maintaining your nose’s external appearance.

Non-Surgical options

  • ClariFix cryotherapy is a quick, minimally invasive treatment that targets overactive nasal nerves in patients with chronic rhinitis or constant nasal congestion not controlled by sprays. Using precise cooling technology, the treatment gently interrupts the nerve signals that cause excessive nasal drip and congestion — providing long-lasting relief with minimal discomfort and no downtime.

  • For patients whose issues are linked to nasal congestion or allergies, targeted medical treatment can make a real difference. Prescription nasal sprays, antihistamines, or desensitisation therapy can help reduce swelling, open the nasal passages, and improve airflow — often relieving symptoms without the need for surgery.

  • Item descriptioWe offer a wide range of advanced and minimally invasive surgeries including functional endoscopic sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty and coblation.

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is a procedure that removes blockages and restores normal sinus drainage providing relief from chronic sinusitis symptoms.

Balloon sinuplasty reduces sinus inflammation by dilating the sinus drainage pathway.

Coblation is an advanced technology that uses radiofrequency energy to gently dissolve tissue whilst minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissues.n

  • Latera is a minimally invasive implant used to treat nasal valve collapse, a common cause of nasal obstruction. It supports the nasal cartilage, improving airflow and reducing symptoms, and is applied under local anaesthetic in clinic.

  • ClariFix is a minimally invasive treatment for chronic rhinitis, a condition characterised by persistent nasal congestion, runny nose, or postnasal drip. It uses cryotherapy (cold therapy) to target and calm overactive nerves in the nasal passages. It’s ideal for patients who have not found relief with medications or other treatments.

  • At Hillser Clinic we offer a range of surgical and treatments to address nasal valve collapse. These range from the Latera implant (a minimally invasive solution that provides support to the lateral nasal wall) to surgical reconstructive procedures that can be tailored to restore valve function and breathing. Our expert team will assess your condition and recommend the most effective treatment at your initial consultation.

  • Our Rhinology treatments address chronic sinusitis, nasal valve collapse, chronic rhinitis, and other nasal obstructions. Depending on your symptoms, we offer both surgical (e.g., septoplasty, turbinate reduction) and non-surgical interventions such as ClariFix therapy.

  • Most procedures are performed using minimally invasive techniques that aim to reduce discomfort and downtime. Recovery times vary by procedure. Our dedicated team provides detailed post-operative care instructions and support to ensure a smooth recovery.

  • A deviated septum is common. While many people have no symptoms, in some cases it causes significant nasal blockage, sinus infections, or snoring. In these situations, surgery (septoplasty) can provide lasting relief.

  • If you have sinus infections that recur frequently, symptoms lasting longer than 12 weeks, or nasal blockage that does not improve with sprays or medication, it is worth consulting an ENT specialist.

  • Yes. Seasonal or environmental allergies can cause persistent congestion, post-nasal drip, and sinus pressure. Treatment may involve sprays, lifestyle adjustments, or procedures like Clarifix when standard therapy fails.

  • If you’re experiencing breathing difficulties or chronic nasal issues, a functional rhinoplasty may be recommended. If your concern is primarily aesthetic, a cosmetic rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance while maintaining or enhancing function if needed. During your consultation, our specialist will advise on the best approach for your needs.

If snoring, poor sleep, or daytime fatigue are affecting your life, our specialists are here to help.
